City of Norwalk, CA “Goes Live” with EdgeSoft, Inc. ePALS™ Online Permitting and Licensing Software System

The City of Norwalk's Official Seal

Manhattan Beach, CA –– The City of Norwalk, CA has gone live with EdgeSoft, Inc.’s ePALS™ online permitting and licensing software system. The online solution will improve city department efficiencies by saving and reducing costs while providing citizens a safe and convenient way to do business with the city. Prior to installing this new system all permitting, and plan
approvals had to be processed in person or via email. The new software runs on Amazon
Web Services (AWS) cloud which provides the highest level of security required for government agencies.

Norwalk Building and Code Compliance inspectors are now able to complete work in
the field using mobile devices. A new online public portal enables city residents, business
owners, and contractors to submit applications online and pay associated fees online.
The updated online permitting system and electronic plan review platform streamlines
the plan submittal, review, and permit processes, as well as enhances the business license
process, and increases transparency. ePALS™ provides a more efficient way to communicate with permit applicants and other agencies. The new online permitting and licensing software also allows all Community development department users to manage data and workflows more efficiently and update the system’s information in real time.

The City of Norwalk Deputy City Manager Richard A. Rojas, Jr. commented – “The City is thrilled to partner with Edgesoft. From day one, the entire EdgeSoft team has dedicated themselves to understanding our needs and delivering cost-effective and impactful solutions. Their emphasis on open and regular communication with our project team, fostered a positive and educational experience for us that has positively transformed our organization.”
