Manhattan Beach, CA –– The City of Norwalk, CA recently announced they have selected EdgeSoft, Inc.’s online permitting and licensing software system ePALS™ Solution to improve city department efficiencies that will save and reduce costs while providing citizens a safe and convenient process to conduct business with the city. Currently all permitting, and plan approvals are processed in person or via email. The new software runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud which provides the highest level of security required for government agencies.
Building and Code Compliance inspectors will soon be able to complete work in the field using mobile devices. An online public portal feature will allow residents, business owners, and contractors to submit applications online and pay associated fees online. The updated online permitting system and electronic plan review platform will streamline the plan submittal, review and permit processes, as well as enhance the business license process, and increase transparency. It will also provide a more efficient way to communicate with the applicant and other agencies. The new online permitting and licensing software will also allow all Community development department users to manage data and workflows more efficiently and update the system’s information in real time.
The City selected EdgeSoft, inc. after reviewing proposals from 21 companies. An evaluation committee comprised of Community Development (Building and Planning Divisions) and Finance staff reviewed and evaluated the proposals based on qualifications, proposed team and organization, work plan, and proposed fees. The committee determined that EdgeSoft, Inc. will best meet the City’s needs within the identified timeline and budget for the project.
